About Dan McCarty

I am a Certified Health Coach that serves adults with a compassionate and humorous approach. I Educate, Motivate, and Empower my clients to help them live healthier lifestyles.

          It's pumping iron time...not!

I enjoy helping individuals or groups living in the second half of their lives (like me) make lifestyle changes for better health and well-being. As a health coach, I oversee and "direct traffic" at the intersection of health information and behavior change to develop a plan based on my clients' unique personalities. It doesn't matter how much I know if I can't guide and motivate my clients. I have seen diets come and go in my lifetime, and I encourage my clients to use small steps and keep their sense of humor to reach their goals. I need to be their catalyst for transformation.

I know the challenges involved in making uncomfortable dietary changes and developing a minimum and enjoyable exercise program through personal experience. I lost thirty pounds in less than a year, and I continued to keep the weight off, even during the Corona Virus pandemic. I slowly made changes in my opinion of healthier foods and experimented with menu items I rarely ate. Paradigm shifts are challenging, and I eventually developed an effective strategy that works well with my body chemistry.

I got healthy because I utilized my quick-wit and sense of humor to minimize my discomfort. My ability to laugh at some of the crazy life challenges we all face from time to time helped me slowly develop a fad-free, practical weight loss regimen that dramatically improved my life. I have way more energy than I ever had! My body eventually craved healthier foods as well.

I aspire to make dieting as fun as possible for my clients. As a certified health coach, I know how efficient the human body is at healing itself when we eat healthier foods and exercise. Best of all, our body's healing abilities have zero side effects! My common sense, science-based, and entertaining approach produces results because I understand the pills and skills method for helping folks live a healthier lifestyle. More about that later.  

I am passionate about educating my clients on the importance of ingesting healthy foods and developing a plan for subtle changes. I educate and motivate them to become healthy and fit for life. I use humor frequently because I know how challenging changing one's lifestyle can be! I believe that even the pickiest of eaters can find creative, great-tasting meal ideas that include healthier choices. 

I was a gorger for my entire life before I decided to get healthy. I loved to eat big meals, and very quickly, My Dad often told me to "stop inhaling your food, or you're going to develop stomach problems like me." I found it quite challenging to eat half as much, twice as often, and chew twice as long, which improves digestion.  

During my initial consult with new clients, we discuss what they currently put into their bodies nutritionally and talk about their current fitness level. Next, we consider what hidden barriers could be preventing them from living a healthier life. I educate folks about bio-individuality and help develop a practical and fun diet and fitness plan that fits their lifestyle. 

There is no one-size-fits-all diet or fitness regimen. We are all unique individuals, and what might work for one person may not be as effective for another. We teach you to listen to your body and find out what is the right plan for you.

I start with some education on how to decide what to eat and what to pass on. Our next step is agreeing on healthy substitutions and I teach you simple ways to read and understand food labels.
